About

Why I made Daily Office

I made Daily Office because I wanted to pray the Daily Office without the hunting: flipping between the prayer book, the lectionary and the psalter, working out which collect, which canticle, which psalms.

The app puts all of it in place for you, every day of the year, from the 1979 Book of Common Prayer: Morning and Evening Prayer, Noonday, Compline and the Daily Devotions.

I also wanted it to be beautiful. Prayer deserves a page that’s a pleasure to read, so the app is set like a well-made book: real typefaces, rubrics in red, the psalms laid out as the BCP prints them, and pages you turn. There are twelve themes, light and dark, so it can look the way you like to read.

It’s free. There are no ads, no subscriptions, and it collects nothing about you. It works entirely offline, on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV and Apple Vision Pro.

Supporting the app

Keeping it that way has real costs: Apple’s developer fees, and the licence for the scripture translation the readings use. If the app has become part of your prayer and you’d like to help keep it free for others, your support goes straight to those costs.

Thank you for praying with it.
